WAR of the WORLDS H.G. Wells To any SciFi nut this is what started it all. The book that set the space invaders standards. Written back in 1898 we still use the heat ray. Every one knows the Sting Ray War machine from George Pal's 1953 movie. But it was the tripod walking machine, with tentacle like arms and spewing deadly black gas lethal to the touch that scared the American east cost thanks to Orson Wells. And just to be honest this 5 year old jumped into the back seat of the car when that first heat ray went off killing those three men. Scared a year's growth out this little boy. Where were we, oh ya, you could update the gas with ninate technology to control the gas. They could move the gas like a living thing seeking out their victims. The ninates could be a portion the size of the ash. Just a thought. It holds a special place for me as back when video tape machines first came out, this is the tape my wife suprised me with. And when DVDs first came out, yep, War of the Worlds was the first disk. I have a couple of other pictures in the works. A meteor crash site with War Machines standing along side for protection. And the initial rise of the machines rising from the craterWAR of the WORLDS H.G. Wells To any SciFi nut this is what started it all. The book that set the space invaders standards.
